"The Poisoned Pawn is a chess term. It refers to an apparently unprotected pawn whose capture leads to dire consequences. If I had to guess, I'd say the author of the anonymous letter felt like he was the first link in a dark chain."

The client is drop-dead gorgeous. Her father is just plain dead - of an apparent suicide. She's certain he was murdered and is willing to do anything to prove it. You are Tex Murphy, P.I. - willing to do anything to make rent. Your 3D virtual reality investigation leads you into the heart of a dark secret. An elite team of specialists has created something unspeakable, and each of them is marked for death. Now, only you stand between freedom and the reign of the Overseer...

Adventure Gamers review:  The story begins as Tex has just opened up his P.I. business and the first client through his door is his soon to be ex-wife, Sylvia. She hires Tex to look into the apparent suicide of her father, but what Tex finds is far from an open and shut case. It soon leads to a vast conspiracy reaching up to the highest levels of the government. As with the previous Tex outings the story is serious and epic, yet presented with Tex’s certain brand of irreverent humor that keeps things from getting overly dramatic. The game designers (the brilliant Aaron Conners and Chris Jones, who plays Tex in the game) successfully tell a story that is suspenseful, interesting, engaging, humorous, and fun all at once--elements that really are staples of every Tex Murphy story.

Just Adventure gives it a perfect 100 score.  Tex Murphy: Overseer is well worth the money. The extraordinary plot, combined with witty and professional voice acting, challenging puzzles, and immersive graphics result in another great adventure game from the Tex Murphy series.

The Adrenaline Vault says:  Like The Pandora Directive, Overseer has a solid story and great gameplay to keep any adventure game fan happy. The acting and the story are very solid and offer enough mystery and surprise to keep things moving along.... Overall, Overseer brings players into the past and builds upon a solid product line. One thing for sure, giving gamers the ability to search and discover the "whole" environment around them through the Virtual World technology makes the Tex Murphy series the most solid adventure series around.

The Past and Future in Overseer. The beautiful ladies in Tex's life.

Question: What is your all-time favorite scene from the Tex games?

DRUM ROLL PLEASE...
Believe it or not, I LOVE the scene in Overseer where Tex and Chelsee are in his speeder flying to the Golden Pagoda, which transitions (neatly, I think) back to Tex and Sylvia (both dressed to the nines), then back again to Tex and Chelsee as they look for a parking spot. It's cool, it's classy, the transitions are great, the effects are spiffy, the humor is warm, and it tells you everything you ever need to know about Tex and the two women in his life.

Tex gets some assistance from the charming Delores Lightbody. I think her appearance in Overseer was the most hilarious of them all.
