Quotes From Honest Gamers Review |
The first time that a Snowboard simulation game is nominated for "Best Story of the Year" by Gamespot. And wins for "Most Outrageous Game."GameSpot ReviewAmped 3 is just a big scalding-hot cup of crazy through and through. It's an exceptionally difficult game to turn away from....
Without spoiling the experience, just know that, before you get to the end credits, there will be ninjas, a yeti, a Soviet game show, a boy band that's huge in France, an evil video game manufacturer, a tabletop RPG, faux-Mexican mayonnaise, and a very specific homage to Final Fantasy VII..... The game is so consistent in delivering unpredictably bizarre, funny cutscenes that you really can't wait to see what happens next. Amped 3 features what is likely the most stand-up-and-applaud endings ever to be featured in a video game. Ever. |

NEW Powder rush: the surreal greatness of Amped 3: You'd think that Amped 3, with its focus on snowboarding, rap culture and bizarre humor, must have been made by a team of stoned-out snow dudes. But developer Indie Built was actually founded in 1982 as Access Software. The company made its name with the Tex Murphy detective games and, by 2005 when the team made Amped 3, they should have been grizzled old cynics. But they obviously weren't......Amped 3 is a fearsome blend of skill and irreverence - co-op elements, knocked-askew humor, extreme character customization and damn fine gameplay, irrespective of the niche appeal of actual snowboarding. And no-one else has used sock puppet dance routines quite as well. Or ever.
NEW Backtracking: Amped 3
Amped 3 was a worthy send-off; one that took daring risks with its tone and structure and seemed willing to include almost anything for a laugh.
The Official 360 Xbox Magazine: Amped 3 is probably the most effortlessly cool game ever made. It's certainly the only game that includes a gang we'd sort of like to hang out with in real life (not that we're lonely or desperate or anything).
Gamers Chronicle says: "Words can’t even begin to describe the creativity in the cut scenes created for Amped 3."
They give the game an "Editors Choice" Award.
Extreme Gamer on Amped 3 : "It's a blender mix of visuals, snowboarding, self abuse which breathes new life into the series.
Amped 3 is incognito because on the surface it seems like a typical snowboarding game, which it is, but once you get rolling you'll realize this game is dope, or at least on dope." They rate it 9.5 out of a possible 10.
Console monster 83 out of a 100: From the outset the game impresses with a unique style reminiscent of the 16-bit era, where originality didn’t cost millions of dollars.... While Amped 3 doesn’t define the snowboarding genre, what it does is set itself apart from every other sports title, snowboarding or otherwise. Sure it’s out there, and some players won’t get it, but it’s as unique as it is daring.
Gary Hartley from Honest Gamers: It never lets up! And it never lets itself get old by recycling the same thing over and over. There's always something new, some unexpected spectacle just around the next corner. So much so that reaching the fantastic conclusion is very much a bittersweet sensation.
